Cosmetic Acupuncture

Cosmetic Acupuncture is not the latest fad or new thing on the market, in fact it dates back over 800 years to the Sung dynasty, when the empress and the Emperor's concubines used it to maintain their youthful allure! More recently, even the rich and famous are using it, (reportedly Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow - Telegraph 13/8/2004).

Acupuncture points of the face are used to stimulate the meridians and may improve muscle tone and skin contraction, this in turn may help to eliminate fine lines and wrinkles. The treatment may reduce sagging jowls and help eliminate puffiness.

By improving the energy flow, facial skin tone may be improved.

The treatment is totally natural and is an alternative to the more invasive procedures such as botox, chemical peels and fillers.

Who can benefit?

Anyone (male or female, over the age of 18) who wishes to improve the overall health and appearance of their facial skin. This can include skin blemishes such as spots, greasy skin, wrinkles and also sagging or puffy skin.

Client Testimonial : Definitely improved the plumpness and elasticity of my skin. Lines have almost disappeared! Friends have made positive comments on how 'well' I look. Very good morale booster! Rosemary, Devon

Does it hurt?

The needles that are used for cosmetic acupuncture are extra fine disposable sterile needles. There is very little sensation upon insertion, in fact the whole experience of a treatment can be very relaxing in itself.

What is involved?

Improvements can be evident after the first treatment, skin can feel more vibrant, although significant improvements are usually noticed after a number of treatments.

Devon Clinics: A course of 8 to 10 treatments on a weekly basis is recommended followed by a maintenance treatment once a month or once every three months depending on your age and requirements.

The Three Level Process Approach

Wendy uses three approaches in cosmetic acupuncture. You can choose one or all three depending on your requirements.

The Three Level Process Approach

Wendy uses three approaches in cosmetic acupuncture. You can choose one or all three depending on your requirements.

  1. The first approach uses acupuncture points on the meridians of the face, head and jaw. This technique improves the circulation of qi and blood to the facial skin.
  2. The second approach uses specialist needles which are inserted a few millimetres apart in nose-to-mouth lines, frown lines and lip area. This approach builds up blood flow and collagen within the line.
  3. The third approach uses needles along the lateral aspect of the facial tissue with a specialist lifting technique to improve the appearance of sagging skin.
  4. A Gua Sha treatment finishes off the session. We use only organic products which improve the blood flow and soothes the skin.

During the consultation, Wendy will recommend which approaches are most appropriate for your skin. The cost is the same whichever approaches you choose (all three or just one or two).
